Adah Dye's collection of newspaper clippings on southwest Washington State, 1950-1978, 1978.

This is a sketch book (18 in. x 24 in.) with a collection of newspaper clippings attached to the sheets with a contents attached to the inside cover. The clippings consist of articles about some of the local history, personalities and businesses of southwest Washington. The majority of the articles were taken from Jan. through Jun. 1978. There is a section of articles from about 1953. There is an article about Oakville, WA; Seatco (Bucoda) Prison; Carlon Apartments, also known as Hotel McCleary, in McCleary, WA; Crosby House in Olympia, WA; Elizabeth Ayer, Architect; Wes Leach, Thurston County Auditor; and Iris Stark & Ina Neathamer, retired elevator operators. It appears that Adah Dye was the collector of these articles and she donated them to the Washington State Library.

Elizabeth Ayer (1897-1987) was the first female graduate of the University of Washington's architecture program and was the first female architect registered in Washington State.
